Mahika's Potty Party!

We are almost about to say bye bye to diapers. Although Mahi has sporadically been going on the potty but has been giving signs of being ready every now and then until the other day when she just refused to wear a diaper.
I was more than happy to see the reluctance because I never wanted to rush it up with her and wanted her to be absolutely ready whenever we decide on this change. So just to pepp things up a bit and for her to realise what a great milestone she is working her way through, we decided to add the " party" factor to the potty training and threw her a little"Potty Party".
Boy!! was she excited.... her joys seem to have no bounds. Absolutely thrilled and kept saying" It's mahi's potty party today".

The supplies included a little potty, panties, party horns, a jar of candy and a basket of surprises.

We explained to her what was happening ,that we do not need to wear the diapers any more and said our formal Bye Bye's ...

It's not a party until we get our hands on some rainbow sprinkled Donuts!!

I was a little hesitant about using the little potty because she was familiar and comfortable with going on the real thing. I'm glad we decided to go ahead and use it because it really helps to be able to have it right there with them at all times.

I have been searching potty books all week and finally got my hands on this super fun Toilet training kit, which included a story book, a guide for parents, a potty reward chart and some stickers... all in all a perfect pack.

We had all her prizes set up in the basket and the deal was that every time she took a wee or a poo in the pot she earned herself a sticker and when she ends up earning four she can pick up a prize for herself..

Sister was so very excited and wanted to just blow the party horns... and had a keen eye on the prizes to which I tried explaining how she has to earn it and for every time I tried to explain I got " NOOOO!!!! I want the prize!" .

I just let her take a go on the story book because we needed  our reward chart up on the wall.

And we had our party started!! Naanu and Nanya are soo much fun :)

Then daddy came and like usual just let her take a go at two of her prizes ... What's a mommy to do?

I have been reading a lot about the " 3 day method" and thought of putting it to experiment, though I would never push it on her and let her take her own sweet time, but if this ever so popular method worked I would just consider myself in luck:)

DAY-1

We had the chart up on the wall in the morning and after a little persuasion she decided to sit on the pot and take a leek. It wasn't her first time but in being in this three day trial was her first and she earned a star and a gummy bear to herself.

Finally got to put up a star for herself  and was very excited after this..

I wouldn't say that the first day was a hit because we had two accidents and there was a lot of cleaning to do but we will definitely be reaching there soon.  Just tucked her in after reading to her and what else could mommy be reading other than ....

Hope to have a better second and third day...  Signing off!! and I could definitely use some Wine :)
