Cairns ( Day1&2 )

So here we go again!! on a trip where memories are made, bonds are strengthened and souls rejuvenated. Our destination for this time was "Cairns". The plan to do cairns in Dec 2015 was conceived in the year 2014(Easter break) and that's how early we have to plan to make sure that all four parents are in Australia at the same time synchronizing it with Office holidays for the people who are working and the last but the most imp Sai's(year twelve) exams to be over and done with.
All worked well and in total sync so we decided to execute the plan and made our bookings. Like the year before last we started on the day of Christmas and came back just in time for the New Years.  We stayed in the water facing apartments very close to the CBD. It worked the best for all the early risers who were interested in morning walks.

The views were awesome..

The apartment was a decent three bedroom adobe and was very well equipped.

DAY-1
The day we reached we headed to the Esplanade Lagoon and it was absolutely splendid. It felt like vacation as soon as we got into the water. In all the excitement we all had forgotten to get the camera but the phone camera came handy and not too bad at all. Mahi all ready in her swim wear with a load of beach toys behind her back.

The kids were so happy and excited !!

DAY-2
We started  early on the second day as it was to be a long one. We were heading to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway followed by Kuranda Train ride. We all boarded the bus which took us to the Skyrail terminal.

We all stepped into our Gondolas and were ready to take off.

The weather was absolutely to die for.. being from the mountains I have seen a lot of misty afternoons and this felt  like just the one.

Daddy being from the Botany department was thoroughly enjoying his subject. He was happy about seeing so many things that he taught to his students, including the great barrier reef.

The skyrail and the rain forest walk is a great experience. It has a very unique aura to it and you, not just enjoy the beauty of the green dense forests but the smell and the sense of it all. When you visit there the thought of it being the place where the Dinosaurs once existed do cross your mind, To be in a place standing next to a tree which is over 400 years old you are left to think of how petty your existence is and yet so significant.

Taking a walk at the look out point.

Finally we reached the kuranda train station and boarded the train back to the city.
The train snakes its way up the mountains and the commentary provides so much information of how were the tracks laid and how it finally started operating after a lot of hardships...

And just when we had to wait for the train to leave we decided on taking a couple of shots!!

Daddy enacting a very famous scene from the movie DDLJ ( Roles reversed) LOL!!

And just as the train began to move missy decided to take a nap. It was mahi's first train ride of this kind and I wanted her to experience it but guess she was too exhausted from all the running around ...

Glad that she woke up after an hour and could enjoy the last stretch of the ride... which she thoroughly did....

And that's how our second day came to an end. Exhausted but came back with some amazing experience,a life which was cleaner and greener.
